Preventative Dental Care
Prevention of dental problems is the main goal of our Waterloo dental office.
Brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day helps to reduce bacterial plaque formation which are what cause cavities and periodontal (gum) problems. The longer this plaque stays around the teeth, the more problems it can cause. Consider even keeping a brush as work or school to brush your teeth after lunch!
Regular professional dental cleanings will remove any plaque that remains to ensure good oral health. Examinations by us can help detect problems early so that we may possibly use less invasive procedures to correct them. And we don’t just look at the teeth and gums…..we also check tissues for signs of oral cancer or other pathology.
Research is beginning to find links between poor oral health and medical conditions such as cardiovascular problems, diabetes, and problems during pregnancy. Preventive dental care is good for your general health!
